More Than Just a Place to Sleep

Perched on a wooden deck and shaded by lush vegetation, the lodge restaurant and bar still open onto sweeping views of the river and the falls. Two meals a day come included with every chalet and budget-unit stay, out of Christa’s kitchen. A swimming pool sits on higher ground behind the campsites — the ideal spot to escape the midday heat — and our on-site masseuse offers pampering for guests looking to unwind after a day out on the river walks and Himba experiences.

What our guests say

epupa falls lodge river view room

We were booked in here for one night, and it was fine.
Maybe a little rustic, and I am not keen on a mix of chalet/lodges and campers, but apart from that it was quite comfortable and friendly.
Reception was good, and we were shown to our cabins promptly.
Each cabin is on stilts so the car can be parked underneath. A chance benefit of the risk of flooding?
In the cabin, a large, baboon-proof screen is lifted to open as a picture window over the river and head of the falls. Site security was good.
A nice bed and the necessary offices all self-contained. Cleanliness was not an issue. Lighting supplied by Solar panels, so no power points.
H&C water.
Meals were taken in the Restaurant building and service was prompt and friendly. No complaints.
It was good that the owner was on site and mixed freely with his guests.
Lots of birds on site too.

Wholesome Meals

Epupa Falls Lodge is a 3-hour drive from Opuwo — the road itself is part of the experience — with no nearby airport, just a small runway about 5km from the lodge. It’s a different kind of hospitality than you’ll find further south: smaller, slower, and built by people who never left.

Dining here is rooted in local heritage, part of the lodge’s broader sustainability commitment. In Christa’s kitchen, every recipe adds to the culinary story of northwest Namibia — almost everything made from scratch, most of the fruit and vegetables grown in the lodge’s own gardens.
