Guaranteed access to a private field guide and an interpreter with an intimate relationship with the Himba people, Epupa Falls Lodge provides guests with a cultural experience like no other. That access isn’t incidental — it’s the result of decades of relationship-building with the local Himba community, long before Epupa was on most people’s map. Individually crafted Himba experiences allow guests the freedom to explore not only the Himba Villages but also the Epupa Valley at their own pace.
The Epupa Valley lends itself to both the weary traveller and the explorer. Here you have the opportunity to sit and stare at the endlessness of the Kunene river as it flows past your room or underneath the main deck. You really don’t have to do anything here but recharge your batteries. Should you be tired from all the driving and feel that a good walk is just what you need, we have several walks to get the blood flowing again. The best part of our walks is that you will learn way more than you bargained for and walk away with the most beautiful photos.
Immerse your senses while experiencing life in a Himba Village. Sit around the fire and eat porridge with the women and children. Or enter a hut to see why and how they perfume and butter themselves. Our village tours are not museum visits — they teem with life and everyday activities, guided by local guides trained through the lodge’s own community guide programme. Ask about visiting the craft centre near the falls while you’re out with your guide.

“On our Namibia trip we made a stop at the Epupa Falls. The accommodation is very well maintained and lovingly designed. The campsites are simple but equipped with everything you need. Actually we would have stayed only 1 night, but we decided to stay one more night. The staff was always courteous, friendly and uncomplicated. The lodge offers excursions to the nearby Himba village, which comes highly recommended thanks to the excellent guide. The viewpoint of Epupa Falls on the nearby hill is also recommended, especially in the evening.”
